COMBUST By K. Bromberg

Dylan McCoy, who is a song writer, had heart heart shattered by her now ex boyfriend. Most of us have been there a time or two. Living in Los Angeles, she thinks she is not the typical Hollywood image,  whose boyfriend happens to be one of the biggest rock stars in the world Jett Kroger.   She decides to leave Los Angeles to clear her head. She knows she’s in not the right frame of mind for a rebound relationship. Then she meets Grady.
Grady Malone, who is a firefighter,  has baggage of his own after a life changing injury.  He has sworn off marriage and children out of fear of the what if’s. His demons still haunt him almost on a nightly basis with no end in sight. His fear overtakes him in many aspects of his life.
I feel that most of us can relate to some aspects  of both Dylan and Grady. Both have issues with self image that control certain aspects of their lives. Each of then have been hurt by someone they loved which helped fuel the insecurities. No matter how much they try to complement each other, all they see are their imperfections.
I got tears eyed, laughed, and felt the compassion Dylan feels for Grady and vice versa. Even though someone’s situation can be different, it proves that life throws us challenges that makes us feel a certain way about ourselves. Those situations and the people we meet along the way, prove that there are still good people in the word. I really enjoyed Dylan and Grady’s story. For me as stated, they are both relatable characters and can easily mirror someone we know in real life.

I received Combust as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
